Songs and Tunes of Midhgardhur

  • "Swans Take Flight" - a song mentioned several times in the story "The Harp of the Sisters" , in which it is described as a slow, sad, mournful tune, whistled or sung with accompaniment on a harp. The song apparently described swans taking flight for their long migration to the south for the winter, flying away to no longer be seen for a very long time, if ever again. The character Ilsa loves this tune with bittersweet symbolism of herself as a young swan flying away from home when she would marry her love, a thane named Vilhjalmur - her father Svanur's name means "swan".
